Michael B. Yanney, a longtime Omaha businessman and philanthropist, died this weekend at age 92. As founder of Burlington Capital, Yanney played a central role in shaping Omaha’s business community over several decades.
“Omaha could use more people like Michael Yanney. He believed in people, he believed in what could be, and believed in Omaha,” said Omaha Magazine publisher Todd Lemke. “Michael is an example for all of us to aspire to what’s possible.”
Born in Kearney, Nebraska, in 1933 as the youngest of nine children, Yanney graduated from the University of Nebraska–Kearney and began his career in banking and investment.
