Nebraska March 3 Event: Grand Island, Kearney Prepare for Rare Pre-Dawn Lunar Eclipse

Omaha, Nebraska – Nebraskans should mark March 3 now, when a rare 58-minute Blood Moon will unfold across the state, delivering Nebraska’s last visible total lunar eclipse until 2028.

According to NASA eclipse timing data, totality begins at 5:04 a.m. Central Time on March 3 and peaks at 5:33 a.m., when the Moon turns deep red inside Earth’s shadow. In eastern and central Nebraska, including Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island and Kearney, totality runs from 5:04 to 6:03 a.m. CT. In the western Panhandle, including Scottsbluff, which observes Mountain Time, totality occurs from 4:04 to 5:03 a.m. MT.
