A sharp northwest wind slices across the Missouri River this morning, rattling signs along I-80 and I-29 as Omaha wakes up to 11 degrees. The sky is clear, but the cold is intense. Wind gusts near 30 mph push wind chills below zero, biting exposed skin in minutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, sunshine dominates today with highs near 24 degrees. Northwest winds between 8 and 13 mph may gust as high as 22 mph through early afternoon.
