Volunteers sought for traveling ‘Wall that Heals’ in Pottawattamie County

(Council Bluffs) — Volunteers are sought for a traveling Vietnam War veterans memorial coming to Pottawattamie County over Memorial Day weekend.

The “Wall That Heals” will be at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs from May 22nd through the 25th. Standing at seven-and-a-half feet tall and 375 feet long, the “Wall that Heals” is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Speaking on KMA’s “Morning Jump” earlier this week, Pottawattamie County Public Relations Manager Kate Gerber says they are still in need of volunteers to help staff the memorial that honors more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War.

The memorial bears the names of over 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Gerber says the need for volunteers is also large due to the wall being free to the public and open 24 hours a day…
