Omaha actor stars in short film premiering at Omaha Film Festival

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An Omaha actor with Down syndrome is set to make his biggest on-screen appearance yet when a locally made short film premieres at the Omaha Film Festival next month.

Joey Drwal stars in “Chapter 21,” a short film directed by Katie Stoneburner, a fellow West Millard ‘20 graduate. The film follows a sibling relationship and features an all-local cast and crew.

“This is the biggest role I’ve had as an actor,” Drwal said.

Film rooted in personal story

Stoneburner attended UNL for undergrad and is now working towards a masters degree for Documentary Film Making at the University of the Arts London. She said the project was inspired by her brother Will, who has down syndrome…
