OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Association of Operating Room Nurses held its annual bowling fundraiser Saturday, raising $12,000 in scholarships for junior and senior nursing students in the metro area interested in operating room careers.
“We work in a high-stress field, so it’s nice to get everybody together, away from work, let them decompress and have some fun time together,” said Walt Nichols, an AORN member.
Scholarships funded through team sponsorships
320 bowlers participated in the event. Nichols said health care professionals and team sponsors contribute funds that go directly toward scholarships.
“We put it on for healthcare individuals, they get team sponsorship, and then the money goes towards scholarships,” Nichols said.
