FRIARS OUTLAST CREIGHTON: SECURE CRUCIAL ROAD WIN, 79-76

Fresh off of a two game winning streak against DePaul and Xavier, Providence (14-15; 7-11) went to Omaha looking to continue their recent trend of solid play, and were successful despite being undermanned, holding on for a 79-76 win over Creighton (14-16; 8-11).

“Good win… Proud of our guys for their fight, their resolve,” said Coach Kim English in his initial remarks following the win.

The injury bug didn’t help the Friars, who were missing Stefan Vaaks for a second straight game due to the flu, in addition to Corey Floyd Jr., who remained sidelined due to his hamstring. However, it was the heroics of Jaylin Sellers that won the Friars this game and allowed them to avoid another late-game collapse like the others that have plagued them this season after leading by six in the final 90 seconds…
