Streetcar Impact Alliance pushes Omaha city officials for construction support

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A group of more than 100 Blackstone-area business owners says ongoing streetcar construction is hurting their bottom line, and they want the city of Omaha to do more to support them.

The Streetcar Impact Alliance formed in response to construction disruptions in the Blackstone neighborhood, where orange barricades and road closed signs have made access difficult for customers and businesses alike.

‘Barely keeping my nose above the surface’

Justin Domina, manager of Long Dog Fat Cat pet store in Blackstone, said he hears directly from customers about the construction’s impact.

“Generally, we’ll talk or commiserate with our customers about it because we don’t really like the construction part either,” Domina said…
