After two wins against South Dakota State on Thursday, the Huskers were back today to start a two-game series against the UNO Mavericks this weekend to cap off their preseason schedule this year. Both games against SDSU were wins for the Huskers as they won 9-4 in their first game that day and then won 8-0 (5 inn.) in the finale.
The UNO Mavericks came into today with a 14-4 record and being ranked #1 in the mid-major rankings. The Mavs 4 losses came against Troy, #7 Arkansas, Kansas, and #7 Arkansas once again. This is UNO’s second to last series of non conference games as they play BYU and Utah Tech next weekend before starting Summit League play.
Both the Huskers and Mavs started their ace pitchers today as Maddia Groff and Jordy Frahm took to the mound for their respective teams. Groff is 4-2 this season with an ERA of 3.63 and a WHIP of 1.21. Frahm is 5-3 with an ERA of 1.57 and a WHIP of 1.14…
