OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Over the last couple of years, a number of businesses in the Florence area have closed their doors, leaving empty buildings in their wake. The latest closure has called attention to the issue, and people are working to solve the problem.
There is nothing to drive up to at the Burger King drive-through near the Florence neighborhood — the pickup window is boarded up. The Burger King is closed.
The Burger King closing adds to a growing list of empty buildings in the Florence area. Over time, the area has lost two major grocery stores, including a Hy-Vee, and there are storefronts along North 30th Street that have been empty for some time.
Less foot traffic hurts remaining businesses
