Cyclist killed in crash with semi in downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A bicyclist was killed in a crash with a semi tractor-trailer in downtown Omaha on Monday afternoon.

Omaha Police responded to the intersection just before 1 p.m. A section of eastbound Cuming Street was blocked off near 14th Street following the incident.

A witness told First Alert 6 that the truck was headed southbound off 14th Street and didn’t see a cyclist who was trying to turn right onto the same street. The witness said the cyclist was pulled under the truck and believed they suffered very serious injuries.

In a briefing at the scene just after 2 p.m., OPD confirmed the cyclist had died.

OPD also said the driver of the truck remained at the scene. Any charges related to the incident are unknown at the time…
