OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Dozens of parents, guardians, adults with disabilities — and staff from Duet — showed up at the regularly scheduled Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging board meeting Wednesday with questions about recent layoffs at the organization.
Duet partners with various governments to provide housing, medical, and other assistance to people with developmental disabilities. Five eastern Nebraska counties provide money for those services on a regular basis.
Duet said the layoffs were necessary because the organization is facing significant financial difficulties. More than eight months after the two top administrators of the organization were gone and interim management was put in charge, circumstances surrounding those financial troubles remain unclear.
