The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Omaha, Nebraska is warning residents about a new Bitcoin ATM fraud. Scammers are posting fake ads to discredit Bitcoin ATM warning stickers and pretending to be law enforcement. Officials remind the public that law enforcement will never ask for payment through a Bitcoin kiosk.
Residents are urged not to send money via Bitcoin ATMs for fines or warrants, to ignore suspicious ads and messages, and to call the scam line at 402-444-SCAM (7226) if they suspect fraud. The post thanks Mike McKnight and WOWT 6 News for coverage of the issue…
