LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska state auditor’s Office issued a report this week calling attention to “potentially improper property tax exemptions” being applied to certain DMV offices in the state.
According to a report release Thursday, assessors from the Nebraska Auditor of Public Accounts are recommending that Douglas, Lancaster, and Hall county governments re-evaluate the exemptions on four properties, and forwarded its report to the Nebraska Department of Revenue for further review — although in one of the cases, the county said the DOR had been previously consulted on the lease and advised the county move forward with the agreement.
