Charges filed, then dismissed due to statute of limitations in 2023 Tabor fire

(Tabor) – Fremont County authorities have charged a Tabor man in connection with a 2023 fire, but the charges have been dismissed due to the statute of limitations.

Court records indicate 42-year-old Jeremy James Ramos was charged with reckless use of fire or explosives on March 6. The charges stem from a fire at MJ Electronics, located at 506 New Street in Tabor, on March 3, 2023.

Tabor Police Chief Derek Aistrope says Ramos had recently begun renting the business and was also a volunteer firefighter. Aistrope says Ramos appeared to be intoxicated during the response. Authorities reviewed video footage from the area, which showed Ramos was the only person near the building at the time of the fire.
