Deadly Shooting Tuesday Morning at Omaha Walmart

OMAHA–(KFOR Apr. 14)–A reported officer-involved shooting inside a central Omaha Walmart store Tuesday morning has turned deadly.

According to Omaha Police, the incident happened around 9:15am at the Walmart off of 72nd and Pine streets, which is just south of Pacific Street and not far from Ak-Sar-Ben Village. OPD Deputy Chief Scott Gray says a female approached another adult and a 3-year-old boy, showed a knife and kidnapped the child. Gray says the suspect had a knife to the child, while telling the adult to walk in front of the shopping cart and out of the store.

“There was some verbal back and forth, it appears, between the caretaker and the suspect for several minutes, until officers arrived,” Gray said. “And that’s when the officers arrived and the shots were fired.”…
