Looking Glass mission could return to Offutt Air Force Base

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – After nearly three decades, a major military mission could come back to Offutt Air Force Base.

From 1961 through 1998, Offutt was home to the airborne command post and had the ability to launch nuclear missiles in an emergency. After nearly three decades operating out of Oklahoma, Operation Looking Glass could be coming back to the metro.

Congressman Don Bacon announced the Looking Glass mission is coming back to the Air Force after being run by the Navy out of Oklahoma for 28 years. It’s a move he’s been pushing for for five years…
