Matt’s First Alert 6 Forecast: A couple chilly mornings ahead

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – We are not quite done with frost potential in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. However, if you are in Omaha, I think any plants should be fine.

The clouds that have been over us on Tuesday will start to push south overnight. Northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa could have scattered frost when you wake up Wednesday morning. Expect morning lows in the mid to upper 30s north of I-80, low 40s to the south.

That cooler weather continues through Wednesday afternoon. Highs only reach the upper 50s and low 60s. When you add in northwest winds gusting to 25 mph at times, there will be an added cool factor in the air.

Thursday morning’s frost potential will depend on clouds. Winds will be light, and the places that see a clearer sky could get lows in the mid to upper 30s. I expect those to be close and north of the Platte River west of Omaha.

Once we get beyond Thursday morning, I think I am done saying, “Morning lows in the 30s” for a while!

Like the temperatures, rain chances remain low through the work week. There could be a couple sprinkles under the clouds Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Another weak disturbance could have some showers Thursday night into Friday morning…
