‘I could feel myself dying’: After being shot 9 times, Nebraska man shares gratitude for his community

On Dec. 3, Michael Kasper headed to Phil’s Cash Saver in Omaha to buy ingredients for dinner.

Five months later, he is still recovering from the nine gunshot wounds he suffered in the parking lot, in what his family called a “random act of violence.”

“Left the house to get a couple of groceries from the store,” Kasper said. “That’s all I did. I never made it back home.”…
