OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Local leaders in Osceola County and the City of St. Cloud are holding budget workshops this afternoon to discuss what could become one of the most significant financial challenges facing local governments in years should Florida voters approve a proposed property tax reform amendment in November.
The Osceola County workshop begins at 2 p.m., followed by St. Cloud’s workshop at 2:30 p.m., as officials examine the potential impact of Florida’s proposed property tax reform amendment expected to appear on the November 2026 ballot.
If approved by at least 60% of voters, the measure would increase Florida’s homestead exemption for non-school property taxes from the current $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027 and up to $250,000 in 2028…
