Strong storms taper off, more rain and heat ahead this weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – After another hot and steamy day across Central Florida, we’re still tracking scattered showers and thunderstorms through the evening, but some stray storms could linger as late as midnight.

Orlando reached 95 degrees Friday afternoon before storms began to develop. Some of the strongest storms today have produced wind gusts of 50-60 mph, small hail, torrential rainfall, and frequent lightning. Localized flooding remains possible where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

The unsettled weather pattern continues Saturday as deep tropical moisture remains in place across Florida. Expect a 70% chance for showers and thunderstorms across Central Florida, with storms becoming more numerous during the afternoon and evening hours…
