Ex-Florida probation officer uses court database to tip off drug traffickers: deputies

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A former juvenile probation officer was accused of illegally using a court database to leak information to members of a drug trafficking organization in Orange County.

Crystal Lawson, 32, obtained access to the Comprehensive Case Information System database while working as a probation officer for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice when she was hired in February 2022, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

OCSO said she was fired in 2022 after she was arrested for battery, but her access to databases was not revoked.

Lawson accessed the databases 106 times between January and May to search for active criminal cases, involving members of a drug trafficking organization. OCSO said the group was under active criminal investigation…
