Central Florida dad accused of manslaughter years after shaking baby boy

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County deputies have revealed that an Orlando father is now facing an even more serious charge after his infant son died years after being critically injured.

Investigators said the charge can be traced back to 2023, when the man — identified as Malcolm Nelson, 34 — shook his baby boy while the family was at their Ormond Beach home, leaving the child with life-threatening injuries.

At the hospital, doctors determined that the baby had suffered a brain bleed, which led to a seizure and cardiac arrest, deputies explained. They added that the child’s heart stopped for about 16 minutes, and he was left on life support…
