FLORIDA — A meteorologist has issued an unofficial extreme heat warning for the entire state of Florida over the next three days, driven by extra heat and humidity that will make it feel like 105 to 114 degrees statewide. Hazy, hot and humid conditions will dominate, with dangerously high heat index values expected from the Panhandle down through South Florida.
Tampa and North Port Lead the State in Extreme Heat Index
North Port is forecast to see the highest heat index in the state at 112 degrees, with Tampa close behind at 110 degrees. These west-central Florida communities are expected to face the most dangerous heat conditions over the next three days.
Orlando and Jacksonville will also see heat index values reaching 108 degrees, keeping much of the central and northeast part of the state under extreme heat as well.
Statewide Heat Index Remains Dangerously High
Pensacola and Gainesville are both forecast to reach a heat index of 107 degrees, matching similar readings expected in Daytona, West Palm Beach and Miami. Fort Pierce and Tallahassee will see slightly lower but still dangerous readings of 106 degrees.
With heat index values ranging from 106 to 112 degrees across nearly every corner of the state, no region of Florida is expected to escape the oppressive conditions over the next three days.
Residents Urged to Stay Cool Amid Hazy Hot Humid Pattern
Given the widespread and dangerous heat index values forecast statewide, residents are urged to stay cool, remain hydrated and limit prolonged outdoor exposure. The combination of extra heat and humidity is expected to persist across Florida through the extended stretch.
