Orange County firefighters rushed to help a child after a reported drowning on Saturday, performing life-saving measures at the scene before racing the child to the region’s pediatric trauma center. According to WKMG/ClickOrlando, Orange County Fire Rescue said crews carried out on-scene life-saving efforts, then transported the child to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The station reported that it had contacted county officials to learn more about the child’s condition and said it would update its coverage when those details become available.
County’s water-safety push
Long before this latest emergency call, Orange County Fire Rescue had been trying to keep families out of exactly this kind of situation. The department’s public education program emphasizes what it calls multiple layers of protection around water, including adult supervision, physical barriers and swim lessons, and it partners with local groups to install door alarms for homes considered at higher risk, the county says.
