Orlando is phasing out parking meters in its central business district. They may not all be physically gone by the end of September, but they won’t work starting Oct. 1. The change aligns with the city’s goal of going completely meterless and cashless.
Street parking can only be secured using the ParkMobile app along with options to pay via text and phone call. The cashless policy also applies to city garages and lots. They will only accept credit cards and digital payment methods.
Along with these changes, parking rates, citations and applicable times will also be adjusted starting Oct. 1. For on-street parking, costs will increase from $1 an hour to $2 an hour for the first two hours. After that, the third hour will cost $3, and hours four through six will be $4 each.
Enforcement times are extending from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On-street parking will still be free from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. as well as on Sundays and holidays…
