Tropical Depression Six forms in the Atlantic

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tropical Depression Six has formed in the Central Atlantic southwest of the Azores.

As of 11 a.m. Six was moving north at 2 mph and had maximum sustained winds of 35mph.

TD 6 will continue to meander in the open waters of the Atlantic over the weekend. It is possible we will see Tropical Storm Fay over the weekend.

Floridians may remember Fay when it brought widespread flooding to the state in 2008. Since the name was not retired, it went back into the six-year rotation of names used for the Atlantic basin.

It poses no threat to the United States…
