Controversy sure does have a way of finding Patrick Beverley . He has recently found himself in hot water anew after supposedly planting a reporter in the press conference after Orlando Magic’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this month.
Orlando-based reporter Brandon Kravitz made the accusation after the Sixers guard took a shot at Wendell Carter Jr. for the Magic center’s response to a question about Beverley’s post on X (formerly Twitter.)
The rundown
The brouhaha began after Philadelphia routed the Magic 124-109. Immediately after the contest, Pat Bev published a social media post trolling the opponents.
Interestingly, the alleged plant asked Carter Jr. about the tweet, which was already suspicious in itself. The big man seemed puzzled by the inquiry, considering Beverley scored just five points off the bench.
“To be quite honest with you, no one’s really worried about Patrick,” WCJ said. “I mean, a five-point game? What did you do? I don’t understand how you’re affecting the game. But that’s what he does. He’s trying to get us to buy into his online antics. He’s just doing a lot right now, and I guess that’s his angle he’s trying to take now towards the end of his career.”
