A 9-year-old boy lost his life after being run over by a school bus. The incident took place in Florida on Tuesday.
The boy, identified as Elyas Amyr Marshall-Rodriguez, was a student at Lawton Chiles Elementary School.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the boy got off the Orange County Public School bus at the Waterford East Apartments in Orlando. However, as the bus driver started to drive forward, the boy unexpectedly ran back and crawled under the bus and ran over by the bus. .
Based on initial investigations conducted with several witnesses, it was discovered that on that Tuesday afternoon, as the boy walked away from the bus, he accidentally dropped his football. In an attempt to retrieve it, he crawled under the bus just as the vehicle started moving.
Tragically, the back tire of the bus struck him, leading to his death at the scene.
Lt. Tara Crescenzi, a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol, mentioned that an investigation is officially underway. They are reviewing video footage to understand the full details of what happened.
