Manatees return to SeaWorld after stay at Zoo Miami due to ‘overcrowding’

TAMPA (WFLA) — A pair of manatees that were temporarily relocated to Miami Zoo have returned to SeaWorld, Orlando.

The Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation partnership and Zoo Miami partnered to relocate two young, orphaned female manatees to Zoo Miami on Jan. 15 due to overcrowding issues at SeaWorld, Orlando, as well as other manatee critical care facilities.

Overcrowding issues occurred due to high numbers of manatees needing rescue this winter.

The two manatees have since returned to Seaworld, Orlando, which is now able to house the manatees after several manatees were successfully rehabilitated.
