Super 16 Coaches Poll: Jones remains on top; Seminole moves to No. 2

There was a bit of shuffling among the top 10 teams of the Sentinel’s Super 16 Coaches Poll after Week 5 play, but the one consistent trend is Jones at No. 1 . The Tigers received 15 unanimous first-place votes from the 16 voting coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team.

Jones moved to 4-0 by sneaking past Osceola in a 34-28 overtime thriller in Kissimmee on Thursday . The Tigers will be back at it Tuesday night in a makeup of a weather postponement from Week 1 against No. 13 Winter Park. Jones has won its last three games by an average of just 7.6 points against Evans, Edgewater and Osceola.

Seminole (4-0), which outscored previously-unbeaten Lake Wales, moves into the No. 2 position this week, with TFA (5-0) following at No. 3. Dr. Phillips (4-0), after a 26-21 victory over previously No. 2-ranked Lake Mary (2-2), climbed from No. 6 last week into the No. 4 spot, followed by Edgewater (3-2) at No. 5.

Lake Mary fell to No. 6, Bishop Moore (4-0) remained at No. 7, Osceola (3-2) stayed at No. 8, Deland (4-1) moved from 12th into the No. 9 spot, and West Orange, which stayed unbeaten at 4-0, made the biggest jump of the week, going from 14th a week ago into the No. 10 hole.
