Body found along Highway 84 near Blakely believed to be Florida murder victim, investigators say

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A murder investigation is underway in Early County after a body was found on the side of a major highway.

On October 29, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando, Florida, contacted the Early County Sheriff’s Office, asking for assistance recovering evidence in a possible murder case that may have been dropped along Highway 84 near the Alabama-Georgia state line.

According to the Early County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the body on Thursday, October 31, while searching for the evidence along Highway 84.

ECSO Major Randall English tells WDHN that investigators believe the victim was killed in Orange County, Florida, before being transported to Early County, where the body was dumped.

Early County, Georgia, and Orange County, Florida, are just over five hours away.

The victim’s identity has not been released, and the body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.

A joint investigation is ongoing between the Early County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
