Got a pre-holiday hankering? Orlando’s got serious Thanksgiving sandwich game

I wrote my first Thanksgiving sandwich story back in 2020 , a time when the world needed lots of comfort. It featured an array of offerings, expected and unexpected; iterations loaded down with carbs and fats and cranberries. And sometimes cheese (which I still don’t get, but whatever). There was gravy. And gravy is good.

Front and center was the Mama Ling Ling’s Thanksgiving, a take from the iconic (and recently shuttered ) Pom Pom’s Teahouse & Sandwicheria, a leftover sandwich so central to the Orlando food scene that it inspired its own leftover recipe: Mama Ling Ling’s Ugly Dumpling Soup .  And this year, the “Mama Ling Ling,” or lack thereof, has inspired another Milk District haunt to extend its usual Thanksgiving special to a nearly monthlong celebration of decadence, deliciousness and diet-busting.
