ARCADIA — DeSoto County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Kissimmee, Florida man accused of kidnapping two 4-year-old children.
DeSoto County deputies received a be-on-the-lookout advisory issued for Jerome Ralph Garvin, 47, of Kissimmee, on Nov. 27, according to the DSCO.
The alert, sent out by Hendry County officials, stated he was driving a stolen vehicle and had kidnapped the two children.
A deputy spotted the vehicle on U.S. 17 and tried to pull Garvin over.
But Garvin” refused to comply, leading deputies on a pursuit before abandoning the vehicle with the kids inside, while it was still moving,” the Sheriff’s Office posted on social media.
However, “DCSO deputies and Arcadia Police Department officers worked together to track him down and apprehend him,” the post states.
Garvin has a long history of felony crimes, including robbery, grand theft auto, and aggravated battery, according to the DCSO.
He was jailed on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, kidnapping/child neglect, fleeing to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest, refusing to sign a citation, and moving violation while license is suspended as a habitual violator.
