Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital hosted a special reunion on Wednesday morning, bringing together former patient Joseph Cassis, a children’s book author, and the dedicated healthcare team that cared for him during his hospitalization.
Cassis, 72, a resident of Iowa, fell ill during a September visit to Orlando-area theme parks with his wife. Admitted to Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital, he was diagnosed with a pulmonary and respiratory illness and remained hospitalized for several days. His stay coincided with Hurricane Helene, which brought strong winds and rainfall to the area, adding another layer of complexity to his experience.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care he received, Cassis returned to the hospital to thank his care team in person. He gifted each team member a keychain adorned with silver guardian angel wings, symbolizing their role in his recovery.
