Wanted man hides in house with jacket over head after giving fake name

A Eustis man was arrested after hiding in a house with a jacket over his head and lying about his identity to avoid a warrant.

An officer observed a truck with a trailer at 95 S. Trowell Ave. on Tuesday evening, according to an arrest report from the Umatilla Police Department. He had not seen the trailer before, so he ran the tag. It came back unconfirmed stolen out of Marion County.

The officer also observed several people, one of which was later identified as 44-year-old Joshua Julius Hyder, getting in and out of the truck to load household items into the back. The officer informed his partner of the situation, and they decided to approach the individuals. As the officer parked, he observed Hyder get out of the driver’s side and hastily move around to the front of the truck, the report said.

The officer advised that he had never seen the individuals before and asked what they were doing. They freely stated they were helping a friend move. He then asked who owned the truck, to which Hyder named “Amanda and Josh.” He also said the owner was another friend who was “in the woods,” a reference to his neighborhood, the report said…
