While seeing construction on Interstate 4 and other major highways isn’t unusual for Central Florida drivers, some have noticed more road work being done as they commute to and from Orlando and Tampa.
In January 2024, construction began on the Accelerated Start program, a project adding lanes to I-4 and addressing other issues, which is just one of five parts of the entire program. This project is a small part of an even larger program called Moving I-4 Forward, which is focused on improving traffic in Central Florida.
In June of 2024, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Transportation announced that the Accelerated Start program would be completed by the end of 2025. Initially this program was scheduled to be completed in 2030…
