Big Lots Stores Across AL, GA, FL, MS, LA, KY Saved from Closure Under New Ownership

Big Lots’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing has put hundreds of stores up for sale, but many locations will remain open under new ownership. While the company is closing 545 of its 1,389 locations by January, other stores are getting a fresh start, thanks to Variety Wholesalers.

According to Newsweek, Boston-based Gordon Brothers Retail Partners is assisting Big Lots during the bankruptcy process. Variety Wholesalers, known for owning Bargain Town, Maxway, Bill’s Dollar Stores, Roses Express, and Roses Discount outlets, has already acquired nearly 200 Big Lots locations.

The states impacted include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi, where Variety Wholesalers is taking over stores in cities like Athens, AL; Fort Myers, FL; Marietta, GA; Jasper, IN; London, KY; Metairie, LA; and Tupelo, MS.
