Orlando, Florida – Strong storms are expected to impact East Central Florida from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Level 1 out of 5 severe weather risk is in effect today for cities including Orlando, Titusville, Melbourne, and Vero Beach. A broken line of storms is expected to move near and north of Orlando and Titusville this morning, followed by more widespread development in the afternoon and evening, especially south and east of Orlando.
Gusty winds between 40 and 50 mph are likely, with a 5–14% chance of damaging gusts exceeding 60 mph. Other threats include coin-sized hail, deadly lightning, and locally heavy rainfall.
