Guest sues Universal after getting stuck on Harry Potter ride for ‘approximately one hour’

ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal City Development Partners, Ltd., and NBC Universal Media, LLC, are facing a lawsuit after a man was injured on a Wizarding World of Harry Potter-themed dark ride at Islands of Adventure, according to court records filed on Wednesday.

The complaint, which seeks damages exceeding $50,000, stems from an incident on July 2, 2023, while the guest was riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.

The lawsuit claims that the guest — identified as Casey Causey — was on the ride “when the rollercoaster came to an abrupt stop, stranding their cart midair at an angle that left him tilted backward and to the right” and was “stranded in this position for approximately one hour, after which the cart was moved to an upright position.”…
