An incident at The Corner Pizza Bar in downtown Orlando has led to serious charges for a local man after a dine-and-dash turned violent on Monday night. According to ClickOrlando, Daniel Robinson, 22, is facing an array of charges that include attempted homicide on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with and without violence, and battery after he allegedly choked a police officer attempting to arrest him.
Robinson reportedly refused to pay a bill amounting to roughly $50.50 and, when confronted, pushed the owner and left the establishment; this led to the police being called around 10:45 p.m., when employees pointed out Robinson to officers upon their arrival. The man was then approached by law enforcement inside the business, where he claimed an inability to pay because his phone was dead, contradicting the visible evidence of his phone lighting up. “Complete chaos” is what the owner of the pizza place described the scene to WESH, as they considered pressing charges.
The situation escalated when officers tried to obtain Robinson’s full name, and he responded with obstructions, leading to attempts to arrest him, which he physically resisted. One officer was allegedly choked during the altercation, prompting a partner officer to intervene by delivering closed-fist strikes to Robinson’s face. A chemical agent was also deployed to gain compliance and enable handcuffing, says the arrest affidavit obtained by ClickOrlando.
