OCSO Reports Major Crime Reduction in Sector Covering Horizon West

In 2024, the sector of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) that includes Horizon West reported a 49% drop in overall crime compared to 2023, according to the agency’s newly released annual report. The coverage area—designated as Sector III—includes Horizon West, New Independence, and Lake Avalon Rural Settlement.

OCSO credits the dramatic decrease to targeted patrols, enhanced training, and coordination with internal agency resources. Notable crime reductions included a 56% decrease in auto thefts, a 53% drop in both residential burglaries and robberies, and a 45% decline in auto burglaries.
