The YMCA of Central Florida is offering free swimming lessons to children experiencing homelessness in the community this summer to make water safety programs accessible to children of all backgrounds.
As part of a partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, the local YMCA branch is providing swimming courses, as well as the necessary gear, to around 20 local children ages 5 to 12 who are homeless. The program, Safety Around Water, is designed to teach essential swimming skills to prevent drowning through an educational, hands-on approach.
