A Lake County woman was arrested after allegedly racking a firearm and threatening to shoot her brother during an argument over paperwork.
An officer responded to an assault at an undisclosed Lake County residence around 10:20 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he met with the brother of 46-year-old Jana Michele Nelson.
He and Nelson had gotten into a verbal altercation about her going through his paperwork without his permission. During the argument, he heard the distinct sound of her in her bedroom racking the slide of her firearm while verbally threatening to shoot him. She owned multiple guns, and he feared for his life, the report said.
The officer next spoke with their father who advised that while in his bedroom, which shared a wall with Nelson, he heard the argument. He was unsure what was said, but he did hear what sounded like the racking of a gun coming from Nelson’s bedroom.
