Grandfather allegedly pushes and punches grandson during argument over mental issues

A Lake County man was arrested after allegedly pushing and punching his grandson in the chest during an argument over his mental issues.

An officer responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 2:55p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, the grandson of 76-year-old Michael Frederick Niederer advised that he pushed him in the chest during an argument over his mental issues.

The grandson did not fall to the ground, but Niederer then punched him in the chest. He also pushed him again, harder than the first time. He sustained red marks and injuries to his right arm, the right side of his neck and the center of his chest, the report said.

Niederer’s wife stated she heard the verbal argument in the garage but did not see the physical altercation, the report said…
