Lake County man pronounced dead at hospital after fatal collision with semi

A Eustis man was pronounced dead after being brought to a hospital with fatal injuries from a crash with a semi.

A 76-year-old man from Orlando was driving a 2013 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer on County Road 44A around 2 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol. He approached the intersection with County Road 439 at the same time as the 56-year-old driver of a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

According to a witness, the semi ran a red light and turned left in the direct path of the truck driver. The semi hit the truck, sending both drivers to the hospital.
