Seminole County Activates Extreme Heat Plan as Central Florida Faces Blistering Weekend

As the mercury soars in Central Florida, Seminole County is bracing for what’s expected to be a blistering weekend by implementing its extreme weather plan. According to WFTV, local residents and visitors are advised to stay vigilant, remain hydrated, and utilize available cooling centers across the county to beat the unforgiving heat.

Alan Harris, Emergency management manager, emphasized the severity of the situation stating, “We want everyone to be safe, it’s very hot outside,” and alerts from the county include safety tips like monitoring body temperature, protecting vulnerable individuals and pets, wearing light clothing, seeking shade, and being mindful of activity during the heat of the day; relief centers is offering air-conditioned spaces and water, moreover, residents like Clarence Wallace are gearing up to ensure their families and especially the elders stay cool and comfortable, Clarence Wallace, a veteran well-acquainted with harsh climates, told WFTV, “The main thing for us this weekend is to stay hydrated and to watch for fellow man and woman.”

Adding to the efforts, county officials have set up misting fans. They are distributing bottled water at key locations such as the Boombah Sports Complex, where families have gathered for a baseball tournament, as reported by ClickOrlando. Meanwhile, Denise Pence, visiting from Missouri, acknowledges the oppressive Florida heat is a notch above what she’s used to: “This is a little bit different though, because I don’t walk around completely drenched in sweat.”…
