Driver with history of license suspensions stopped at Okahumpka Service Plaza

An Orlando man was arrested for driving with an indefinitely suspended license after being stopped at the Okahumpka Service Plaza.

An officer observed a grey Nissan minivan traveling southbound near the Okahumpka Service Plaza, located at 299 SR 91, around 3:50 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A record check showed the registered owner, 50-year-old Elroy Joseph Nibbs, had an indefinitely suspended license as of July 28 for failure to pay a traffic fine out of Osceola County.

The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle at the service plaza and informed Nibbs of the reason for the stop. He seemed confused, as he stated he had no knowledge of the suspensions nor the citation he failed to pay, the report said.

However, a check of his driving history revealed he was given notice of the suspension on July 7. He also had six guilty convictions for driving while license suspended out of Orange, Seminole and Brevard Counties. These dated from Sept. 1999 through Sept. 2015, the report said…
