What’s Up With the Random Silver Poles on Park Avenue?

If you’ve driven onto Park Avenue recently from either Webster or Fairbanks, you may have noticed a pair of seemingly random silver poles standing tall at each end of the street.

They’re not part of a light rail project or a minimalist art installation. According to the City of Winter Park, these gleaming structures are simply the bare bones of new historic gateway signs coming soon.

The northern set near Webster is scheduled for its final transformation in late August, with the southern set near Fairbanks following in late September. Once complete, both signs will mark Park Avenue’s place on the National Register of Historic Places, a designation the district earned back in 2011…
