Orlando Woman Arrested for Outstanding Warrant After Autistic Child Found Wandering Outside Maitland Apartment Complex

An Orlando woman was arrested after an incident involving an “abandoned child” led authorities to uncover an outstanding warrant for her arrest, ClickOrlando reported. On Wednesday, local police responded to calls about a child who was witnessed walking without direction around an apartment complex. The child was traced back to an apartment unit where officers contacted 26-year-old Janicia Nestor.

Nestor had a warrant out for aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm after an aggressive altercation in June where she attacked guests and threatened a friend with a knife, according to ClickOrlando. The child, who had been in Nestor’s care while his mother was at work, was eventually safeguarded, his disappearance seemingly inadvertent, stemming from Nestor having been asleep when the young boy made his way outside.

Meanwhile, a separate report by WFTV highlights the mother’s perspective, as Gina Nestor expressed both her fear upon learning her son, TJ, who is autistic, was missing and her relief that he was found unharmed. “I want to say thank you. Because God forbid if anything happened and someone else found him. And didn’t have good intentions. The person who called had good intentions,” she stated…
